Un gringo en la ciudad de la amistad
Lo conocí en Detroit, USA, y por haber sido tan amable conmigo le hice la clásica invitación que uno hace más por cortesía que por deseo sincero…. ¡Ven a visitar Chiclayo! ..y ahora aquí lo tenía, visitando la “Ciudad de la Amistad”.A las pocas horas de bajar del avión, tuvo su primer encuentro con nuestras costumbres “Ou, mi creer estar en Vietnam”… “Porque Larry? ¿Muchas chicas de ojos rasgados?” Le pregunté sorprendido.. “Ou,nou,nou.. Mi ver alambre de púas en jardines…parecer estar en guerra de Vietnam” Me agarró frio.. ¡que le respondo!… ¡que le respondo!... “Si Mister- le respondo con cara de vendedor diciendo “¡Este producto es de garantía!”- como estábamos en guerra con el Ecuador tuvimos que colocar estas cercas de púas, pero ya como está solucionado el problema, el gobierno ha dicho que a fin de mes las van a sacar.”
Si supiera que somos tan incivilizados que ponemos alambre de púas para proteger los jardines sin importarnos lo que le pueda pasar a los transeúntes y peor aún a los inocentes niños que pasan jugando, corriendo y empujándose. Bancos, edificios públicos y hasta hospitales… cuando salgan miren como están protegidos los jardines de nuestro hospital.. tienen esta incivilizada costumbre tan arraigada que otro turista me preguntó si por las calles de Chiclayo pasaba todavía el ganado.
“! Oh My Goodness!”exclamó el gringo sorprendido. “Y que pasar si alguien caer y hacerse daño ¡” “Don’t worry”… le contesto “Existe un seguro contra estos accidentes y el que lo paga es el dueño del jardín, te cubre todo: el pantalón, la atención médica y las medicinas, ¡Un seguro integral!”. El gringo me queda mirando con cara de “Ah caraju..que bien”… “Good, very good…” concluye el gringo.
¡ Ay gringo! Espera para que veas lo que te espera…¿Quieres conocer nuestra cultura?.... Bien.. Mañana te subo a una combi, luego a una mototaxi y si tienes un accidente te llevo para que te atiendan en la emergencia del Hospital Las Mercedes. Te vas a regresar corriendo a tu país con los pelos de punta y claro, on la cortesía de los gringos dirás al despedirte.." Mi gustar Chiclayo..bonita ciudad... Encantar trato y cariño de la gente..¡Gringo hipócrita!.
